Light microscopy course - Beyond pretty pictures -

Twice a year we deliver a 2-day theory course complementing the training in our facility.

This course aims at teaching the basics of light microscopy and the theoretical skills required for the application of optical imaging technologies. It targets every level of research staff, from PG students to principal investigators. The course is divided into seven modules covering essential topics of basic and some advanced light microscopy. The main modules of the course are: the nature of light, basics of light microscopy, confocal microscopy, sample preparation, image formation and restoration, digital camera technology, image analysis and advanced light microscopy technologies. Advanced techniques in light microscopy

If demand is high enough, we will be launching a follow-up course discussing advanced techniques in light microscopy in the future. This will include topics such as intra-vital imaging, live specimen in imaging, super-resolution fluorescence microscopy, data analysis and a lot more.
